The AGC Education and Research Foundation (AGCERF) is happy to invest in the future of the construction industry by awarding scholarships to deserving students in construction management and engineering programs across the country. In 2013, 130 scholarships were awarded through the generosity of our donor-supported funds. The scholarships for undergraduates are $2,500 per year and can be renewed for up to three years. Graduate awards are $3,750 annually up to a maximum of $7,500.
This is a national scholarship program. Most of the AGC Chapters offer scholarships to students in their areas as well. Check here to find an AGC Chapter from your home state or in the state in which you attend college.
In addition, college seniors should check our Awards page for the James L. Allhands Essay Competition which awards the winner $1,000 and an expense-paid trip to the AGC Annual Convention in March, 2014.
Applications must be submitted by midnight EST on November 1, 2013 and are for the 2014-15 academic year that begins September, 2014. If you are selected as a finalist, you will be notified in February, 2014. The next step is an interview with a contractor in your area. Following the interview, scholarship recipients will be selected and announced in March, 2014. Students will receive their awards prior to the September, 2014 semester. To apply, applications must be completed online.
There are two very important things to remember:
- You must meet the criteria to apply as an undergraduate or graduate.
- Make sure that your evaluators (one teacher and one employer) know that you are requesting their recommendation and check back with them to ensure the recommendation has been submitted. Your application is not complete until the evaluations have been completed AND YOU SUBMIT THE APPLICATION.
